Via Futura: Tram extension from Nations
#genève mobilité nations SGD ODD Public Consultation
Rethink mobility in Geneva. Have your say.
Residents from Greater Geneva are being consulted on issues regarding the environment, quality of life, public health and service attractiveness in relation to the number 15 tram extension from the Place des Nations.
The first phase of the number 15 tram extension will connect Grand Saconnex with the Place des Nations and the City Center. A second phase that extends to France via Ferney Voltaire is also currently being studied.
The number 15 tram extension is part of :
- the wider development of the International Geneva district and neighbourhoods in Grand Saconnex.
- An institutional response to improving mobility in Greater Geneva within the context of a sustainability strategy towards energy transition.
The development of the tram extension is opportunity to reflect on how lifestyles and the way we travel around Geneva will change as we respond to environmental challenges and improve Greater Geneva's liveability. Engaging with the public at an early stage of the tram extension's conceptualisation has been prioritised in order to obtain insights and ideas that will inform political decisions in relation to mobility strategy and user experience.
Via Futura is a space for public interactions through meetings, focus groups, a workshop, a seminar and Decidim (the new digital platform to facilitate participation in decision making across Geneva). Here you can find further information and receive notifications about future and past events/ activities. You can take part at your own convenience by filling in the survey and putting forward propositions that will be considered by the Via Futura team. At the end of the consultation, decisions taken will be made publicly accessible via Decidim.
Areas of focus for the consultation:
How does this new infrastructure respond to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals?
How does it improve the quality of life of people in Greater Geneva and how does it impact the lifestyles of people who live or work in the perimeter affected by the tram extension?
What kind of incentives or conditions for behavioural change could be put in place for people who depend on cars for their commutes?
How could the tram create links between local development and the global Sustainable Development Goals championed by international organisations based in the perimeter?
