Penser l’espace public d’un projet de mobilité
Expérimenter autour du BHNS-GVZ
Come and discover the experiments in Chatelaine and Meyrin and answer the questionnaire to express your opinions and feelings about the project!
Set up experiments on public space to learn how to act better on space:
- diagnose: by answering a survey
- test: by participating in workshops
- evaluate
This process is taking place in the context of the development of a new project for a high service level bus line Geneva - Vernier - Zimeysaver (BHNS-GVZ) > see the route from Geneva to Meyrin. The approach is supported by the municipalities and the Department of Land and Infrastructure of the State of Geneva.
A method by experimentation in 3 phases
This process is being developed in collaboration with the Danish firm Jan Gehl, whose method is being applied for the first time in Geneva. It is divided into three phases: measuring, testing and improving. The measurement phase consists of understanding the current situation and collecting information that can help to identify challenges and potential for improvement of the public space. The test phase aims at proposing innovative and ephemeral solutions, while the last phase, evaluation, allows the colelctive of project leaders and civil society to make choices and plan the future project.
Currently, from 15 March to 15 April, experiments are being carried out according to what was previously measured in 2020 ("test" phase). These are light and temporary interventions that allow us to learn what works and what does not. The lessons learned can be used to inform the planning and design of the bus stops of the future HSR-GVZ, as well as the public spaces in the vicinity of this new public transport axis.
Three concrete projects in three locations
Three locations have been chosen for these temporary experiments along the line of the future BHNS-GVZ: in Chatelaine, at the ecu pole in Vernier and around the tram stop of the Hôpital de la Tour in Meyrin. The aim is to reveal the current uses and to imagine their potential for evolution. They will take simple and ephemeral forms, easily reversible, for example markings on the ground, paint on the road, mobile furniture (pergola, planting in tubs, bench ...) or specific and / or targeted activities (show, course, planting ...). They will take place from 15 March to 15 April.
