How does a compact, intelligent and democratic city respond locally to changes and challenges that are also global?

The City of Geneva is developing and adapting to profound changes: The environment, densification, lifestyle choices…

The new tram extension represents an infrastructural and institutional response to these changes. It will connect the city center to Grand Saconnex, serving the international organisations that also rely on the airport whilst at the same time offering an alternative to individual transport for residents in Greater Geneva.

How will this infrastructure integrate with the urban fabric? Could it encourage local interaction? How can people appropriate it?

Open to all, this workshop takes the new extension of the tram from Nations along the route de Ferney as an opportunity to reflect on how public authorities, economic actors, international organisations and residents of Greater Geneva can co-create a mobility system integrating local, regional and global challenges.
